My husband & I spent an exciting month in South Africa in March, 2009. We saw and photographed many fascinating animals. This quilt includes some of my favorites. It was challenging choosing an arrangement for the photos and then figuring out how to construct the quilt so the pictures were not just in rows. A photo quilt is really fun and it brings back great memories.

HAPPY HEARTS by Nancy Watts

Last year my husband, John, had emergency triple by-pass heart surgery. This quilt is dedicated to him and symbolizes his weakened heart coming out into the light.......now strong and happy! I included lots of love in every one of the 1,063 pieces!

A quilt for a neighbor starting cancer treatments

My neighbor Linda is starting chemotherapy. I had made this quilt after finding only 1/2 yard of the poppy print (large outer triangles) at the Pine Needle. When Linda got sick, I knew this was for her.

It's about 55" square....a nice size for sitting on the lounge chair in the backyard and taking to her chemo treatments.

Having trouble with your thread knotting or curling when you hand stitch binding or appliqué? To prevent this, thread your needle before cutting the thread from the spool. This way you are working with the direction of the thread wrap on the spool. Then run your thread through the thread conditioner, Thread Heaven. The conditioner will smooth your thread, does not leave any "globs" on the thread and will not harm your fabrics. Did you know...that two to three times more damage occurs to thread during the process of sewing than it will encounter during the rest of its lifetime in the finished project, whether from wear, laundering, or environmental conditions. Sew Oregon Shop Hop 2009 Cool Cherry Angel Cake Ingredients: 1 loaf Angel Food Cake 1 - 3 oz package cream cheese plus 1 - 8 oz package cream cheese (a total of 11 oz.) Bring cream cheese to room temperature. 1 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1 - 8 oz. container Cool Whip 2 cans Comstock Cherry Pie Filling ******* Break up cake in small pieces in a 9 " x 13" pan.
