| The Pine Needle Newsletter | February 2009 |
| Greetings!
With February and Valentine's Day we're thinking sweethearts and all things pink, red and fabulous. Our "Scattered Roses" quilt kit speaks of red roses, and love, with a sweet scalloped border. We couldn't decide on a size, so we've created it in lap, twin and queen.
Come spend some time in our shop, or on our website, to find a quilt project that speaks to you of love, warmth and color.
| Did you know.... Valentine's Day "probably took its name from a priest who was martyred about ad 270 by the emperor Claudius II Gothicus. According to legend, the priest signed a letter to his jailer's daughter, whom he had befriended and with whom he had fallen in love, 'from your Valentine'." (quote from Encyclopedia Britannica)
| While the Cats Away the Mice will..... Have a Sale!
While Geri and Jim work our booth at the annual Sewing and Stitchery Expo, the staff has been designated to stay home and do the spring cleaning. But The Pine Cones, fearing loneliness with owners and customers off to Puyallup (WA), decided to liven things up at The Pine Needle with a SALE. A lot more fun than cleaning!
So, if you have been thinking of a flannel project, this is a great time to come see us.
20% Off All Flannels in stock at The Pine Needle February 26-March 1

| Featured Artist
Ann Johnston
Ann first learned to sew, then she learned to dye fabric. Her 25 years of experimentation have led to mountains of hand-dyed fabrics and hundreds of one-of-a kind quilts. She shares her knowledge of design, fabric dyeing and quilts in her several books.
We were delighted that Ann participated in The Pine Needle's Winter Open House, exhibiting her work, talking with our visitors and autographing her books.
