Maggie makes us all smile with her delightful laugh. If you've been to our store on Mondays and Fridays, you probably know her by her friendly good humor and cheerfulness. She describes herself as a self-taught quilter, having sewn garments and doll clothes as a youngster and then making her first quilt in 1974. To that beginning, Maggie constantly adds to her technical and design capabilities by taking classes, workshops and seminars. She has been sharing her knowledge with The Pine Needle's customers for six and a half years, helping customers with fabric choices and Pieces of the Pastanswering color, design and construction questions. Utilizing her experience as a Home Economics teacher, Maggie began teaching classes for The Pine Needle several years ago. Her "One Block Wonder" class has been a customer favorite. Her newest upcoming class is "Not your Grandmother's Nosegay".
Maggie loves color and precision piecing which she employs in her wonderful traditional, scrap and contemporary quilts. She has created for usAmerican Beauty many of our more challenging quilts, including "Pieces of the Past", "American Beauty", "Bouillabaisse", "Welcome Home", and our new "Family Ties". You can find her at The Pine Needle several days a week when she's not busy in her own studio or traveling the world with her kids. Her motto: "no rules!"

Did you know....
...that the oldest needles found date back to about 40,000 years ago? They were uncovered in the Stone Age Kostenki site in Russia. The first hand made bone needles found in Western Europe and Central Asia date back 17,000 years.
