Mystery Quilt Party and Next Block Party

Wow!  Look at some of these fabulous quilts
that were made in the Mystery Quilt series.
Quilters gathered on Saturday at The Pine Needle
to show off their creations and share in some yummy food.

Be sure to join us for our next fun Quilting party -
The Holiday Block Party
and Cookie Exchange - December 4th!

Geri has chosen this beautiful French reproduction fabric
from the Lumiere de Noel line by Moda to be the focus fabric.

Here's the scoop.
  • For $15 you receive a half yard of the theme fabric plus these three coordinating fabrics to be used as you desire.
  • You choose any block pattern and make six identical 8.5" x 8.5" unfinished blocks adding any other fabrics you would like.
  • On December 4th, bring five of your blocks and three dozen cookies to the party.
  • You go home with 5 blocks from a blind drawing... enough to put together a table runner or quilt - AND... you'll have cookies too! What a great start to the Holiday Season.
And for some added fun....
we'll be having an Ugly Holiday Sweater contest!  Bring it on girls!!!

Bonus for participants...
Receive a 15% discount on the entire bolted line of Lumiere de Noel...
and there are a ton of them to choose from - these are just a few.

Here's what Picasso and Monet have to say about color...

Color is my day-long obsession,  joy and torment.

Why do two colors, put one next to the other, sing?  Can one really explain this?  No.

Embroidery Spotlight

It's that time of year when small projects are a must! Vacations, baseball games, (really long) graduation ceremonies... all of these activities just beg for a portable project!

Start your project by getting organized...

Here's a fun gadget! The string thing is a simple tin that helps keep your thread in line by routing it through a perfectly sized hole in its top. It comes with a magnetic top to place your needles or scissors on for safe-keeping, and is designed with places to write the brand, color, and size of the thread you are using. It keeps your thread tidy, clean, and contained. The string thing comes in three different sizes. Perfect!

Now for the project...

Bonnie Sullivan has come up with some spectacular designs. This one called Itty Bitty Button Pictures is perfect for a "take along" project!

The Pine Needle has many samples of Bonnie's work in the store. Come by for a dose of inspiration and browse through her beautiful designs... You can find out more about Bonnie by clicking here...

Next up is the queen of embrodiery and good friend to The Pine Needle... Kathy Schmitz! Just in case you didn't know... Bonnie and Kathy are sisters! The Pine Needle is blessed to have such wonderful talent at the store.

Kathy's latest design is called, M is for Monogram. This little booklet has 10 monogram surrounds and 1 alphabet. These surrounds can be embroidered on tea towels, pillowcases or anywhere you need to add a little something.

Choosing a project is so much fun, the Pine Cones are looking forward to helping you with your next project! See you soon...
