Garden Tales Quilt |
Greetings!
Welcome Spring! With trees beginning to flower and Easter not too far off, the Garden Tales quilt and fabric just seemed a natural for this month's newsletter. The art work on some of today's fabrics is breathtaking with the exquisitely rendered bunnies on Garden Tales being a wonderful example. Somehow the thought of curling up in front of a fire with my grand-daughters and a book from Beatrix Potter keeps popping to mind.
Happy Easter!

A New Challenge
Pattern: Victorious
We quilt for fun. We quilt for enjoyment and satisfaction. And every once in awhile we should also challenge ourselves with a more complicated project that builds our skills and our appreciation of the art of quilting. Victorious is just that kind of pattern and project. But we have a secret! With Deb Tucker's V trim down ruler, you can create precision "Peaky and Spike" blocks that will win you rave reviews.

A Day Brightener
My Neighbor's Apron
We think our newest apron makes a bright and cheery (or is that cherry) way to greet the morning. The colorfully aproned Pine Needle staff sold out of all our apron patterns to a receptive crowd two weeks ago at the Sewing and Stitchery Expo giving us reason to think aprons are back in vogue. The one above, made from My Neighbor's Apron pattern, slips easily over your head, covers you from shoulders to thigh and provides plenty of ease for movement. It is a simple way of keeping your clothing clean when cooking or cleaning. And big pockets...what could be better!
Besides...with all the beautiful fabric, aprons are as fun to make as to wear.

This is another must have tool for traditional quilters if you are making the "Peaky and Spike" block above. With Deb Tucker's tool you'll be cutting the center and side triangles slightly over sized and then with the same tool trimming the sewn piece to an extremely precise unit with seams perfectly placed for crisp, sharp points at every intersection. With this tool you will have the precision you've always wanted in your quiltmaking while discovering it is easier too!
