Small Projects

It's the time of year when it's hard to image surrounding yourself with a big, warm, quilt. But summer time and travels mean visiting friends, exploring quilt shops, and still spending some time at the sewing machine. So, we suggest some smaller projects perfect for giving as gifts, for using those special fabrics you've picked up, and for sewing up something quick and satisfying.

We've got quite a few kits and patterns for a variety of fun projects.

Brand new is this Sew Adorable Fabric Basket which Pam has kitted up in a variety of fabric combos.

We've also got a super cute Iron Caddy and pressing station. Perfect for taking along to sewing retreats or sew days with friends.

The Take Four Placemat pattern is a great way to use all those fat quarters you've been collecting, or pick up one of the Squared Up kits in which we've already coordinated some fabulous fabrics.

And... who can resist a Potato Chip Bag kit? This practical little purse is so cute and easy to make that you won't be able to stop with just one!

We're Inspired by: Black and White

It's bold. It's graphic, it goes with everything!

Like the little black dress that's a must in so many women's wardrobes, black and white fabric is a classic mixer for anyone's fabric stash.

Whether it's playful typography, low volume shirting prints, or simple scattered designs on black, there's a black and white fabric you'll fall for.

This digital print of a stunning cityscape sold out within a few weeks. We can't wait to see the projects our customers start making with it.

Spring at The Pine Needle

Spring has definitely sprung at The Pine Needle! We're re-stocking after the whirlwind that was the Sewing and Stitch Expo in Puyallup, WA and there's lots of sunny colors and cute animals just in time for spring projects.

Bunnies and birdies and butterflies, oh my!

Summer Roads is our newest kit using our Crossroads pattern. It looks great in soft, springtime colors (to include the pink chosen by Pantone to be one of the colors for 2016).

Pink paired with grey and a deeper red says spring fling! Valentine's Day may have passed, but romance can still be in the air.

We've still got Katya kits and Quick Curve rulers for this stunner of a quilt. Some new cheery retro looking fabrics fit right in to the mix.

Spring means babies, and we've got lots of adorable flannels, and self-binding baby blanket kits that are perfect last minute shower gifts.

The Pine Needle is Prepping for Puyallup

Come see us in our two booths at the Sewing and Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA from Feb 25th through 28th.

The Pinecones are busy preparing for the show -- we're choosing fabrics and notions to bring, cutting and assembling kits, and sewing up samples to inspire our customers.

We've got snuggly flannels like misty greats and creams for our Highland Crossroads quilt (above), and absolutely adorable prints for self-binding baby blankets -- a quick, easy, and super-cute solution for the next baby in your life (below).

We're proud to have Mary Fons in our booth as well. We'll be showcasing her new World Piece fabric collection gathered by country. We're busily sewing up lovely samples that make efficient use of these fun bundles.

It's not just about quilts. We've got smaller projects too, like the Noddlehead 241 bag and Market Tote patterns which shows off special fabrics beautifully.

We hope to see you there!
